How do you respond when life throws you a curveball? Do you get angry or upset even when it doesn’t really help things? I found myself staying calm even when I was disappointed about finding that my car was hit while parked in the street. Bummer! But I am okay and everything will be okay. I am grateful that I can find peace even when things outside of myself look “bad.”
I knew that getting angry wouldn’t help in any way. I felt sad that it happened and disappointed that the person who did the damage didn’t leave a note to take responsibility, so I let myself feel that. And I quickly returned to a calm, positive state. There is still so much to be grateful for. I don’t let things like this ruin my day. Life goes on. There will be curveballs. There will be tests. It is all okay.
By tuning inward, I can access a state of calm, a state of peace, a state of forgiveness. And that is the greatest gift of all.
